DESCRIPTION:Edited by Eddie Yuen, Daniel Burton Rose and George Katsiaficas,
Confronting Capitalism is a document of key debates within the
anti-Globalization movement in the last few years. Despite the global
shrinkage of political freedom in the post 9/11 era, globalization and
anti-war movements have continued to evolve and expand, particularly in
Europe, Latin America and Africa. In this volume, noted academics and
grassroots organizers discuss a multitude of issues, including history and
theory of the globalization movement, international networks and strategic
dilemmas. Counter-institutions such as Independent Media Centers, People's
Global Action, and World Social Forums are critically discussed.
Confronting Capitalism is a revised and updated sequel to The Battle of
Seattle: The New Challenge to Capitalist Globalization. Eddie Yuen is a
Ph.D. candidate in the Sociology program at the University of California at
Santa Cruz. He teaches at Brooklyn College and City University of New York.
