When the FTAA meets\nin Miami\nto unilaterally finalize their vision of an economic\npolicy that\nthreatens the freedom and well being of every living\nbeing in \nthis hemisphere, we'll be there to say no. Ordinary\npeople are\nnot allowed into the meetings, but shutting the doors\nwill not\nsilence our voices. At the FTAA protest in Quebec, we\ntore the\nfence down; the next year in Quito, we descended from\nthe four \ndirections with our demands for justice; and this year\nin Miami,\nwe'll stop them in their tracks. A better world is\nnecessary. \nWith dances of dissent, seductive artwork, padded\nblocs, critical\nmass bike trickery, guerrilla murals and other\ndisplays of\npublic beauty and empowerment we'll build a better\nfuture right\nthen and there in the streets of Miami!\n\nActivists from across the country have converged at\nConsultas in\nPittsburgh, Chicago and Denver to plan coordinated\nactions, street\ntactics and creative disruptions in Miami.\n\nDASW, Anti-FTAA Action and Action for Local/Global\nJustice invite\nactivists throughout California and the west coast to\nparticipate\nin a Consulta to plan nonviolent direct actions for\nMiami that \nwill send a message loud and clear to the world that\nthe movements\nagainst war and empire are alive and well in the belly\nof the empire. \n\nProposed Consulta agenda items: \n\n* Updates from organizers on the ground in Miami and\nhow we can \n support impacted communities struggle in Florida.\n* Direct action tactics for Miami\n* Padded Block actions & updates from other Consultas\n* Preparation of legal and medial strategies for Miami\n* Formation of a communication network to be used on\nthe ground\n in Miami\n* Jail support and solidarity\n* Teach-in, legal march and rally and other activities\nin Miami\n* Sustained anti-FTAA and other related campaigns\n* Ongoing anti-war, anti-corporate globalization,\nanti-empire \n networking\n* Outreach\n\nThe Consulta will last from 10am to 8pm on Saturday\nOctober 18th, \nwith possible breakout planning sessions on the\nmorning of Sunday\nthe 19th.
