DESCRIPTION:Victory Over Violence - Bayview Bar B Q This Weekend - August 17th\n\nThis 
 Sunday August 17th there will be a Summer Barbecue and Birthday Celebration 
 at the newly established Green House in the Bayview/Hunter's Point. The 
 event is being held in memory of late Bayview resident Idriss Stelley and 
 to honor all the surviving families of people disabled or killed by law 
 enforcement.\n\nIdriss was shot & killed by nine officers of the San 
 Francisco police on June 13, 2001, and his mother Mesha Irizarry later won 
 a civil suit this year which is destined to become the cornerstone of the 
 Idriss Stelley Memorial Foundation. \n\nThe Barbecue begins at 3 pm. There 
 will be Live Music & Spoken Word, Food, \nand the Stolen Lives Memorial 
 Walls will be on display. The Walls bear the names of \npeople across the 
 country who have been killed by law enforcement since the early 
 \n1990's.\n\n\nThe Green House is to be a community gathering place, a 
 positive space for \nthe use of the local youth, hopefully creating jobs 
 and supporting community \nawareness. The Green House is also the home of a 
 youth voter registration drive \nsponsored by the SF Bayview Newspaper. The 
 Foundation will offer a crisis hot line, short term therapy, funeral 
 \nbenefits, and a legal referral panel for people who fall victim to police 
 \nmisconduct, and their families. It will be the home of Victory Over 
 Violence, a \nsupport group for families and friends of those killed by law 
 enforcement. \n\nPlease come and check it out and help San Francisco 
 celebrate a commitment \nto peace, police reform and Victory Over 
 Violence.\n\n\nThis event is open to the public and no one will be turned 
 away for lack of \nfunds, but it is nonetheless a fund raiser for The 
 Idriss Stelley Foundation and Oct 22
