 RUGS\nMassage by JONATHAN GAVZER\n\nIn celebration of JALALADDIN RUMI and 
 his poetic\nworks,\nthis event blends the myriad of cultural art 
 and\nspirituality that forms Persian culture in the modern\nage. It 
 directly represents what is happening today in\nthe Persian/American Bay 
 Area and East Coast artist\ncommunity. Now is a time of deep spiritual 
 evolution\nespecially considering the intensity of events\nhappening in 
 Afghanistan, Iran and the United States.\nThese are very powerful times and 
 this is a very\nsignificant day: at 12:53pm (Pacific) there will be 
 an\neclipse and the date falls on a New moon eve.\n\nWe intend to call upon 
 the spirit and teachings of\nRumi and Semazen, the Turkish spiritual 
 movement\nfollowing his teachings, to help us find peace and\nunderstanding 
 through education, history and\nexperience.  \n\nThis gathering 
 incorporates poetry recitation, live\npainting, Persian electronic music 
 producers, DJ's,\norganic Persian music performed on 
 traditional\ninstruments using non-traditional formulas, improvised\nvisual 
 art, a historical presentation of Persian\nculture, vendor/info booths, 
 dancing and food to\nfacilitate an environment of deep ritual and 
 healing.\nThis is avant-garde Persian art and performance,\nsimultaneously 
 rooting in tradition and moving beyond\nboundaries becoming the future of a 
 new Persian\nperspective.  \n\nAlso, PARABOLA Magazine will be presenting a 
 film on\nRumi and we'll having a Sufi dervish dance ritual and\nother guest 
 appearances.  \n\nA portion of the proceeds from this event helps 
 to\nbenefit RAWA, The Revolutionary Association for the\nWomen of
