DESCRIPTION:May's cooking class (Demystifying Tofu and Tempeh) is yet another testament
to the abundance of fabulously delicious, filling, and nutritious food you
enjoy when you leave behind the meat and dairy. As usual, we plan to
demonstrate delicious dishes, to debunk myths regarding plant-based eating,
and to have a lot of fun! \n\nJoin us on Saturday May 31st as we whip up:
\n\n-Tempeh with Orange Ginger Sauce \n-Baked Marinated Tempeh \n-Maui Tofu
with Pineapple, Red Peppers, and Brown Rice \n-French Onion Pie \n-Baked
Tofu \n-Eggless Egg Salad \n\nIn addition to what we're actually cooking,
we will provide you with a bevy of resources, suggestions, and ideas for
plant-based cooking. We'll also be offering a raffle, sponsored by VegNews
(www.vegnews.com), the winner of which will receive a one-year subscription
to VegNews, an inspiring, resourceful, information-packed publication,
filled with vegetarian news, interviews, travel tales, recipes, book
reviews, events, veg products, and so much more! \n\nWHEN: Saturday, May
 31st -- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. \nWHERE: First Unitarian Church of Oakland, 685
14th St. at Castro. Directions: http://www.uuoakland.org/directions.htm
\nCOST: $25 (plus $5 food fee) \nHOW TO SIGN UP: First contact me at
compassionatecooks@yahoo.com to make sure there is room in the class. Once
you let me know that you would like to attend, simply write a check, make
it out to Colleen A. Patrick, and put 'cooking class' in the memo field.
Mail it to Colleen A. Patrick P.O. Box 18512 Oakland, CA 94619. \n\nPLEASE
NOTE: Because of the logistics involved, you are considered a TENTATIVE
sign-up until I receive your check. When I receive it, I will send you a
confirmation via email. Also, please try to sign up sooner rather than
later. Last-minute sign-ups (though sometimes inevitable) are discouraged.
:) \n\nDEADLINE TO SIGN UP: Wednesday May 28th \n\nPREVIOUS CLASS COMMENTS:
We'd like to share some comments from our previous class participants. Here
is some feedback from April's class. (I swear I don't add the exclamation
points!) :) \n\n"Delightful, Warming, Inspiring! Thank you for all your
information and knowledge. I hope to attend more classes. Keep up your
wonderful work." \n\n"How delightful! I'm so glad I came. Wonderful wealth
of information in the folders. Will definitely return for future classes. I
can't think of any recommendations for improvement. The food was so tasty,
some of the best I've ever had. Thanks so much!" \n\n"That was so much fun
and such delicious dishes! I learned a lot, too, especially about protein
and why not to drink milk. Thanks for all you do!" \n\n"Wonderful class!
Thank you very much. I'm sure I'll see you at a future class."
\n\n"Excellent ideas for new, tasty dishes!" \n\nPREVIOUS CLASS RECIPES:
