DESCRIPTION:Investigative journalist Eduardo Cohen will discuss the hidden agenda
moving U.S. foreign policy – corporate control of Middle East oil and the
growth of the military-industrial complex – and how the government
manipulates information to keep that agenda hidden and get public opinion
behind the war of the moment. The consequence of this agenda is that Iraq
is only the beginning for the doctrine of preventive invasions; in order to
sustain the oil and arms industries, the U.S. government must continue its
series of military conflicts wherever it finds a pretext to do
so.\n\nCohen’s sharp questioning of U.S. foreign policy began when, after
serving for two months in a combat unit in Vietnam, Cohen was assigned to
the Press Information Office, where he refused orders to fabricate stories
for the media. Later, he was one of the first journalists to uncover U.S.
plans for the invasion of Grenada and exposed the CIA creation and training
of the Nicaraguan contras. For seven years he was host of the popular
“The Other Americas” radio program on KPFA. He now lives and works in
Sacramento as a freelance writer, media relations consultant, and
lecturer.\n\nThe program will also be broadcast live on Community Cable
Channel 28 as part of the Other Voices television series.\n\nAdmission is
 free.\n\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2004/02/03/19363.php
