DESCRIPTION:This FREE weekly walking tour (being led since 1998!) interprets San
Francisco social movement history as nothing less than the struggle over
who will dominate real estate. The power to exclude others, whether
politically, economically, socially, and environmentally is a 3-dimensional
affair. The landlord's ability to legally or otherwise demand payment for
the use of place underlies every caste and racial question. On this walk
we'll explore 10 social movements, from AIM's occupation of Alcatraz to the
Black Panther liberation movement, from #Black Lives Matter to Occupy Wall
Street, always looking at the question of power from the perspective of
"Who owns the land?"\n\nThe hypothesis is that socializing the entire rent
of the footprint of the Americas is fundamental to liberating a genuine
free-market in the movement and exercise of Labor and Capital, while at the
same time eliminating the unearned income and political power that comes
from merely holding title to the planet against others' use of it by which
 to get a livelihood.\n
