DESCRIPTION:Join ADC Director of Education, Colette Cavanaugh, and Arab American Civic 
 Council's Amin Nash, for a critical conversation on the state of education 
 in California and beyond. \n\nCalifornia Assembly Bill 1468, introduced by 
 Assemblyman Rick Zbur (D-Los Angeles), seeks to redefine “ethnic 
 studies” in California public schools. The introduction of this bill 
 coincides with an alarming pattern of attacks on historical accuracy in 
 K-12 schools and higher education institutions.  \n\nAB-1468 threatens to 
 increase censorship of critical histories including Arab American, 
 immigrant, and refugee experiences, under the guise of protecting students. 
 The emergence of this bill follows a decision made by the State Board of 
 Education in 2021 to eliminate Arab American Studies from California’s 
 Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum because of pressure from Zionist 
 organizations. The exclusion is appalling: California boasts the largest 
 Arab American population and Arab Americans have stood in solidarity in 
 civil rights struggles with various groups.  \n\nMany people are wondering 
 what AB-1468 means for educators, students, and the future of ethnic 
 studies curriculums surrounding Arab-American history. California has the 
 opportunity to set a precedent for the rest of the country by including our 
 stories in ethnic studies curriculums, ensuring that future generations of 
 K-12 students are well-rounded, global citizens.\n\nDon’t miss our live
