DESCRIPTION:Movement-Building in a Time of Crisis Workshop/Teach-in\n\nOctober 17 @ 4
 PM - 5:30 PM PT (7 PM - 8:30 PM ET)\n\nRegister:
 https://kairoscenter.org/event/movement-building-in-a-time-of-crisis-economic-political-and-theological-challenges-and-opportunities-of-our-current-moment/\n\nHost:
Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice\n(co-anchor of the
Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival)\n\n\nAs we
head into the November elections, we are increasingly aware of multiple
threats facing our communities: poverty and economic insecurity are on the
rise, impacting 40 percent of the people in this country; widespread
low-wages, underemployment and the rising costs of basic needs are
 compromising our ability to provide for ourselves and our loved ones;
climate crisis rages on unabated, fueled by the ongoing investments in
polluting industries that poison our communities; police violence, mass
incarceration and immigration enforcement bring the military state to our
daily lives, while brutal wars continue with near impunity. \n\nThese
threats to our democracy and our daily lives are compelling communities to
take action for themselves, through mutual aid, ministry, organizing,
cultural production and more, to meet our needs, build community, push back
on authoritarianism and establish newfound power for the days
ahead.\n\nThis is why on October 17, the Kairos Center is bringing together
experts on the economy, militarism, the rise of authoritarianism and
Project 2025, alongside religious leaders and organizers, to offer a
concrete analysis of our current context and how our movements and
organizations are responding. \n\nJoin us as we discuss the challenges and
opportunities of this “kairos moment” and how we can build on lessons
from the pandemic era to build up powerful movements for the long
haul.\n\n\nABOUT: Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice
(Poor People's Campaign)\n\nThe Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and
Social Justice is a national organization committed to building a movement
to end poverty, led by the poor. \n\nDrawing on the power of religions and
human rights, we are a center for movement strategy, coordination, and
education among the poor across all lines of division. \n\nAmong other
projects, we co-anchor the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for
 Moral Revival. \n\n
