DESCRIPTION:Thursday, October 26th at 7 PM PT\n\nBetween 1938 and the end of World War
II, University of Vienna anatomist Eduard Pernkopf published a series of
anatomical atlases. He used the bodies of over 1,300 murdered victims of
Nazi terror as subjects for his work.\n\nThe Nazi history of the Pernkopf
atlas series was concealed in the 1950s. The atlases were regarded as
preeminent anatomical resources and remained in use even after their
depraved origins had been exposed.\n\nNow, the Amara Yad Project led by
Drs. Kalyanam Shivkumar and Barbara Natterson-Horowitz and their colleagues
at UCLA Health are working to surpass and replace Pernkopf’s work with
new, accurate anatomic atlases that will be an indispensable resource for
medical professionals.\n\nMeet Dr. Shivkumar and hear about this incredible
work.\n\nFollowing his presentation Dr. Shivkumar joins a panel of
 experts.\n\n\nDR. KALYANAM SHIVKUMAR\n\nDr. Kalyanam Shivkumar is a
physician scientist serving as the founding director of the UCLA Cardiac
Arrhythmia Center & EP Programs since 2002 and as the director & chief of
UCLA’s Cardiovascular and Interventional Programs since 2011. He is
currently a Professor in the Departments of Medicine (Cardiology),
Radiology and Bioengineering. He is an active clinician and has been
elected as a member of academic honor societies including the American
Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI), Association of American
Physicians (AAP), and Association of University Cardiologists (AUC). He
also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American College
 of Cardiology: Clinical Electrophysiology.\n
