 Talking Points Memo independent media
 (https://talkingpointsmemo.com/about)\n\nDate and time: Thu, May 26, 2022 @

 https://www.eventbrite.com/e/roe-v-wade-whats-next-tickets-333597528187\n\n\nAccording
to a leaked draft of a Supreme Court majority opinion, Roe v. Wade is
slated to be overturned this summer. \n\n--How likely is it that this draft
will be the final ruling? \n\n--How did we get here and what does this mean
for civil liberties broadly? \n\n--And how will this affect the day-to-day
lives of Americans state by state? \n\nWe’ll bring together journalists,
experts, and practitioners for a robust discussion on possible
outcomes.\n\nPanelists include:\n\nKulsoom Ijaz joined the Center for
Reproductive Rights in 2021 and is a member of the U.S. litigation team.
She assists in litigating reproductive rights across the United States.
Kulsoom is also a Founding Board Member of the American Muslim Bar
Association (AMBA) and is currently serving as the Advocacy Chair. Her work
focuses on developing strategy and campaigns, building intersectional
coalitions, and co-authoring statements in response to pressing human
rights issues. The most recent publication addresses The Islamic Principle
of Rahma: A Call for Reproductive Justice, which can be found
here.\n\nJennifer Haberkorn covers Congress in Washington, D.C., for the
Los Angeles Times. She has reported from Washington since 2005, spending
much of that time roaming the halls of the U.S. Capitol. Before arriving at
The Times, Haberkorn spent eight years at Politico writing about healthcare
policy, including the 2010 healthcare law, a story that took her to
Congress, the states, healthcare clinics and courtrooms around the country.
She also covered the politics of abortion.\n\nLauren Rankin is a writer,
activist, and expert in abortion rights in the U.S. Her work has been
featured at the Washington Post, The Cut, Fast Company, Cosmopolitan, Teen
Vogue, Refinery29, NBC News, and many more. She is the author of 'Bodies on
the Line: At the Front Lines of the Fight to Protect Abortion in America,'
about the legacy of everyday volunteers in the fight for abortion rights,
in bookstores everywhere on April 5, 2022. She spent six years as a clinic
escort in New Jersey and is on the board of A is For, a reproductive rights
advocacy nonprofit.\n\nChanel Porchia-Albert has been working within infant
and maternal health since 2008 when she founded Ancient Song Doula Services
in Brooklyn, New York. Her work in reproductive health has taken her across
the world to Uganda where she was a maternal health strategist and board
member of Village Birth International assisting mothers in rural areas,
working on advisory boards with Ariadne Labs at Harvard School of Public
Health, Columbia University Medical School, and various others. She also
serves as a consultant on birth justice and provider engagement with the NY
City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and on various independent
projects with Ancient Song.\n\nModerated by TPM's Kate Riga\n\n
