 climate and ecological emergencies and the growing deterioration in the 
 living conditions of the population, national governments in Latin America 
 have not been up to the task of addressing the socio-environmental 
 devastation. The responses have been uneven, ranging from denialism and 
 submission to commercial logic to the violation of rights. In the best of 
 cases, government measures have been insufficient.\n\nMeanwhile, various 
 community and territorial movements have outlined programs for just and 
 popular transitions. These are anchored in territorial autonomy, food 
 sovereignty, an energy transition, and the defense of water, the rights of 
 nature, and the centrality of care. At the same time, on a regional scale, 
 thousands of activists, academics and organizations have endorsed an 
 Ecosocial Pact of the South, which places the calls for decarbonization in 
 a broader agenda, seeking to advance redistributive, gender, ethnic, and 
 environmental justice in the construction of post-extractivist societies 
 and economies.\n\nFive of these activists and academics will provide a 
 snapshot of today’s Latin American reality and will explain the efforts 
 to turn the Ecosocial Pact into a reality on the ground, promoting the

 emergencia climática, de la devastación socioambiental y del creciente 
 deterioro en las condiciones de vida de la población, en América Latina 
 los gobiernos nacionales no han estado a la altura en la formulación de 
 respuestas a la crisis ecosocial. Aunque la respuesta haya sido desigual, 
 suele oscilar entre el negacionismo, la sumisión a la lógica mercantil, 
 la violación de derechos y la violencia patriarcal y, en el mejor de los 
 casos, algunas respuestas insuficientes.\n\nMientras tanto, varios 
 movimientos y experiencias comunitarias y territoriales buscan construir 
 prácticas y agendas de transiciones justas y populares ancladas en la 
 autonomía territorial, en la soberanía alimentaria, en la transición 
 energética y productiva, en la defensa del agua, de los derechos de la 
 naturaleza, de los cuidados, entre otros ejes. A la vez, en una escala 
 regional, miles de activistas, académicos y organizaciones han respaldado 
 un Pacto Ecosocial del Sur, que ubica los llamados a la descarbonización 
 en una agenda más amplia, buscando articular justicia redistributiva, de 
 género, étnica y ambiental en la construcción de sociedades y economías 
 post-extractivistas.\n\nCinco de estos activistas y académicos brindarán 
 una instantánea de la realidad latinoamericana y explicarán los esfuerzos 
 para convertir el Pacto Ecosocial en una realidad sobre el terreno y por 
 potenciar horizontes de transformación ecosocial en la región.\n\n
