DESCRIPTION:Come on a free walking tour exploring the intersection of real estate and
social justice. Nominally, it's a survey of San Francisco social movement
history; polemically, it's a rally for treating the economic value of land
as a commonwealth. \n\nPeople are animals as much as the Pt. Reyes elk . .
. now some will say people over animals when it comes to land access, but
who's prepared to say some have a greater human right to land against other
humans?\n\n"Reciprocity" is one of the tour's key concepts--relevant to the
walk in meaning the exchange of goods and services for goods and services.
The walk's talk argues (and illustrates through anecdote and real estate
example) that the exchange of goods and services values for access to
land/location is not an instance of reciprocity, but instead a great
outrage against the natural right of all to occupy this planet. In other
words, private property in locational value is substantially no different
than share-cropping or feudalism. Happily, the walk proposes a piece of
public policy legislation that would go far in remedying this calumny.\n\n
