DESCRIPTION:Constructing a Moral Narrative: Dismantling Christian
 Nationalism\n\nThursday, November 18, 2021 @ 6:00 PM PT\n\nRSVP:
 https://actionnetwork.org/events/rsvp-for-the-california-poor-peoples-campaign-christian-nationalism-event\n\n\nEver
heard of Christian Nationalism?\nEver wonder what it means?\nEver wonder
why it dominates religious conversation in our nation?\n\nJoin the
California Poor People’s Campaign in a hybrid online and in-person event
to discuss the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism with a
focus on Christian Nationalism \non Thursday November 18, 2021 from 6:00pm
 – 8:30pm. Christian nationalism is the belief that the American nation is
defined by Christianity, and that the government should take active steps
to keep it that way. \n\nIn the wake of the attacks on the Capitol on
January 6 and the attempts of \nChristian Nationalists to silence the
voices of the oppressed, the California Poor People's Campaign invites the
community to participate in a moderated panel discussion addressing \nthe
distorted moral narrative of Christian Nationalism. We will be joined by
our co-chairs \nRev. Dr. William J. Barber II and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis
for this important discussion.\n\nOur goal is to hear from impacted persons
and leaders from multiple faith traditions \nwithin the backdrop of the
oldest church founded by African Americans in Los Angeles, \nthe First
African Methodist Episcopal Church. \n\nPlease join us as we begin our work
to dismantle the distorted moral narrative \nof Christian
 Nationalism.\n\n\nPRINCIPLES of the POOR PEOPLE'S
 CAMPAIGN\n\nhttps://www.poorpeoplescampaign.org/about/our-principles/\n\nPrinciple
#7: Whereas the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism blames
poor and oppressed people for our poverty and oppression, our deepest
religious and constitutional values insist that the primary moral issues of
our day must be how our society treats the poor, those on the margins,
 women, LGBTQIA2S+ folks, workers, immigrants, the disabled and the sick;
equal protection under the law; and the desire for peace, love and harmony
 within and among nations.\n\n\n\n
