DESCRIPTION:GLIDE is pleased to welcome back, in person, the annual GLIDE 
 Legacy Gala and celebrate the GLIDE Legacy 
 Awards on Saturday, August 14 at Terra Gallery in San 
 Francisco. A combination in-person event and virtual gathering, the 
 12th GLIDE Legacy Gala will bring supporters back together for an 
 evening to reconnect and recommit to creating positive change 
 to the community. Supporters will have their choice of attending in 
 person (under current COVID-19 protocols) or streaming the event at 
 home.  \n  \nThe 2021 GLIDE Legacy Awards honor two remarkable 
 individuals who embody GLIDE’s values, including unconditional love, 
 standing for the people and commitment to fighting systemic injustice. 
 Aimee Allison, founder of She the People, will receive the Rev. Cecil 
 Williams Legacy Award, for her work in elevating the voice and power of 
 women of color. Dr. Connie Wun, co-founder of AAPI Women Lead, will receive 
 the Janice Mirikitani Legacy Award for her lifelong commitment to 
 ending racial and gender-based violence.  \n \nThe evening includes 
 delicious refreshments and entertainment from The GLIDE Ensemble, DJ King 
 Most, and Catalyst Arts Aerialist. A panel discussion moderated by Priya 
 David Clemens, host of KQED’s Newsroom will include GLIDE President and 
 CEO Karen Hanrahan and the awardees with a focus on the resiliency and 
 unique character of the San Francisco Bay Area and addressing rising 
 inequities through community building and the empowerment and elevation 
 of marginalized groups.  \n \n"GLIDE continues to build on nearly 60 
 years of activism, adapting and innovating, with evidenced-based 
 solutions to address society’s most pressing issues—inequality, 
 poverty, homelessness, and systemic racism," said GLIDE President and CEO 
 Karen Hanrahan. "We are working directly with those who in need, expanding 
 our reach across the city, and changing hearts and minds in public and 
 private systems to build empathy and transform lives. Join us to help more 
 individuals and families off the streets, into self-sufficiency and thrive 
 for good.” \n \n \nPast Legacy Award honorees have included Michael 
 Franti, Amanda Gorman, Vice President Kamala Harris, Van Jones, The Sisters 
 of Perpetual Indulgence, Mpumi Nobiva, Lateefah Simon, Alicia Garza, 
 Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Jeremy Affeldt, Renel Brooks-Moon, Chip Conley, 
 Vernon Davis, Dave Eggers, Chris Gardner, Chinaka Hodge, Felicia Horowitz, 
 Shaka Senghor, Shiza Shahid, Andres Torres, and Kristi Yamaguchi.  \n  
 \n \nThe GLIDE Legacy Committee is striving 
 to raise $100,000 through ticket sales, crowdfunding and lead-up 
 events that will support GLIDE's critical work in San Francisco, 
 which includes providing thousands of free meals a week, harm reduction 
 outreach, behavioral health counseling, rental assistance, spiritual 
 community, and more.  \n  \nA donation of any amount (suggested 
 minimum donation of $25) will grant attendees access to the 12th 
 Annual GLIDE Legacy Gala livestream, featuring a virtual panel 
 discussion and live Q&A with the honorees plus 
 additional entertainment. General Admission tickets start 
 at $120 and include exclusive entry to the in-person event at Terra 
 Gallery. Sponsorships begin at $500. Thank you to Empower

 be acknowledged on the GLIDE Legacy Gala event invitation,
