DESCRIPTION:CA #WearOrange Virtual Day of Action Against Gun Violence\n\nIn honor of
the weekend of National Gun Violence Awareness Day, Moms Demand Action for
Gun Sense in America raises awareness through our annual #WearOrange
 campaign. \n\nWhen: Saturday, June 6, 2020 @ 10 AM PT\n\nWhere:
Online—you can easily and safely participate from home!\n\nRSVP:
 https://act.everytown.org/event/wear-orange-2020/33555\n_____________________________________________________________\n\nThis
year, COVID-19 may be limiting our ability to gather in person, but not our
desire to #WearOrange and fight for a future free from gun violence.
\n\nQuarantine frustrations are just one of the ways the COVID-19 pandemic
and the gun violence epidemic are feeding on each other. You may have read
about the security guard in \nFlint, Michigan who was shot and killed for
refusing entry to a shopper not wearing a protective mask. Or the
anti-government demonstrations by gun-wielding activists in Nevada,
Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Virginia. Or the two fast food
restaurant workers in Oklahoma who were shot and wounded because the
restaurant's seating area was closed. \n\nThe recent murder of Ahmaud
Arbery in Brunswick, Georgia shows how 'Stand Your Ground' shootings have a
tragic and disproportionate impact on communities of color. Overall, more
than 100 people are shot and killed, and the hundreds more are wounded, by
guns every day in America, even during this pandemic. \n\nJoin us for a
Virtual Day of Action! We will have an interactive day of action taking
place online, including impactful speakers and actions for you to take, and
you can share your \nhome-based #WearOrange
 activities.\n_____________________________________________________________\n\nWhy
#WearOrange?\n\nOrange is the color that Hadiya Pendleton’s friends wore
in her honor when she was shot \nand killed in Chicago at the age of 15 —
just one week after performing at President Obama’s \n2nd inaugural
parade in 2013. After her death, they asked us to stand up, speak out,
\nand Wear Orange—the color hunters use for protection—to raise
 awareness about gun violence.
