DESCRIPTION:Building on his experience in co-founding multiple youth movements in the
Middle East, Ahmed Salah learned that there are rarely any truly impossible
situations and that even the most powerful corrupt systems can be taken
down with creative thinking and passionate work.\n\nCome join us in a
conversation about the value of non-violence in protest against repressive
political environments and the fundamental importance of making ethical
choices in this existential struggle. We will discussed the historical
significance of the Egyptian revolution and what we can learn from its
successes and eclipse. We will look into Arab aspirations for change and
liberation. We will examine the autocratic politics in the Middle East and
international complicity in the denial of human rights in the
region.\n\nAhmed Salah, born in Egypt in 1967, was a member of the
Coordinating Committee of Kefaya, (2004-2010), the coordinator of Youth for
Change (2005-2006), and the primary founder and strategist of April 6 Youth
movement of Egypt. He became the main architect of the January 2011
revolution, and the coordinator of the Coalition of the Committees for the
Defense of the Revolution (2011-2013).\n\nAhmed is a recipient of important
justice awards. He published You Are Under Arrest for Masterminding the
Egyptian Revolution (2016). He lives in San Francisco and teaches classes
on the value of non-violence as philosophy, moral practice, and winning
strategy in political movements for change. He can be reached at
