DESCRIPTION:The Santa Cruz Global Climate Strike Coalition announces a day of walkouts
and events on September 27, 2019. Inspired by young people around the world
and accelerating climate crisis, a dozen local organizations have partnered
with local youth to plan and participate in global action, and demand
governments and culpable corporations take immediate steps to reverse the
climate crisis. \n\nOn Friday, Sept. 27, after UCSC students return,
students of all ages will be walking out of school, and walking and busing
to downtown Santa Cruz. We converge at Wells Fargo Bank, a major funder of
the fossil fuel industry, at 74 River St at 2:15 pm. Youth will speak, and
Extinction Rebellion Santa Cruz will stage a “Death at Your Door”
Action at Wells Fargo.\n\nFrom there, students and community members will
march through downtown Santa Cruz, stopping at Amazon, creators and
supporters of climate chaos, and Looker/Google, enabler/supplier of tech
support to the largest greenhouse gas emitter, the U.S. military.
Protesters will use art and performance to illustrate connections between
corporations and the climate crisis. Democratic Socialists of America Santa
Cruz and Science for the People will be leading these actions.\n\nThe march
will continue to the Santa Cruz Farmers Market parking lot at Lincoln and
Cedar streets where youth will create a Green Commons expressing their
hopes for a just and earth friendly future. A Bike Parade will leave at
5:30 pm while the Green Commons will close down at 7 pm.\n\nThe Santa Cruz
Global Climate Strike Coalition invites the greater Santa Cruz community to
 join this action.  \n
