DESCRIPTION:Attend the appeal meeting on Wednesday, March 27th @ 6pm at Menlo Park City
Council Chambers, 701 Laurel 94025. If we get low attendance, the trees
are likely toast. Bring all your tree-loving neighbors and friends.
\n\nEvening Agenda at Link at bottom of this page. Public comment period is
at beginning. 2 minutes per person; you can also join us in our protest by
holding signs in chambers during the meeting. \n\nThe Raging Grannies will
sing a protest song during the meeting.\n\nKEY POINTS:\n\n**The building
structure damage at 1000 El Camino Real was not caused by the trees.\n**The
land at 1000 El Camino Real is owned by the city and leased to the building
owner.\n**The building structure repair solution proposed by the building
owner will damage the trees and require their removal.\n**There are
alternative building structure repaire solutions that will not damage the
trees, but these solutions are costly.\n**The city of Menlo Park estimates
the monetary value of the trees at $150,000 – not enough to justfy the
more costly solutions.\n**The original premise of the tree removal is
FALSE:\n---False premise point #1: The trees are causing damage to the
structure (this staff report confirms that this is not the case)\n---False
premise point #2: No feasible alternatives to removal exist (alternatives
do exist that increase the cost of repairs)\n
