 21st Annual ART & WRITING CHALLENGE & YOUTH ACTIVIST GRANT.  Open to Middle 
 and High School Students in Contra Costa County\n\nTopic/Prompt for Art & 
 Writing Challenge 2019: \n"Cultivating a Peaceful World: Visions for the 
 Future"\n\nAcross the globe, marginalized communities continue to face 
 direct threats to their humanity and livelihood. We fear not only for the 
 lives of those across the globe, but for ourselves, our families, and our 
 loved ones. At times, this fear can be overwhelming. However, we must not 
 let it defeat us. We are more powerful together than anyone can 
 imagine.\nWe must look inside ourselves and to our community to envision 
 the future we want.\n\nIn the year of our 50th Anniversary, the Peace 
 Center seeks visions of the future from young people in the community and 
 asks:\n\nWhen you dream of liberation, what does that look like to you? 
 \nWhat are your hopes for a more peaceful future? \nHow do you see 
 communities thriving? How do we get there?\n\nWe are looking for writing 
 and visual artwork that speaks to these questions.\n\nStudents may submit 
 entries in three different categories: \nVisual Art, Creative Writing or 
 Essay\n\nCash prizes range from $25-$500!!!\n\nIn this, our 50th year, we 
 also are proud to announce our inaugural YOUTH ACTIVISM GRANT Awards! 
 \n\nWe are welcoming nominations for students who have exhibited an 
 outstanding commitment to engaging in the struggle for human rights, 
 justice, peace and/or youth empowerment.  \nYou may nominate a youth 
 organization, an individual, or a group of students, grades 6-12 from 
 Contra Costa County. Three $100 grants will be awarded. \n\nArt & Writing 
 Submissions and Activism Grant Nominations are due Friday, April 12,
