DESCRIPTION:The birthplace of freedom fighter Chairman Fred Hampton is being targeted
for foreclosure. Without our support, this monument to the radical legacy
of the Black Panthers will be another casualty of the big banks. The
Chicago community will also lose a key organizing space that currently
hosts the Black Panther Cubs among other survival programs.\n\nJoin
Community Ready Corps (Allies) for a special night of political education
and material support for the work of Chairman Fred Hampton Jr. and Mama
Akua Njeri. Last year you heard from them at our “Surviving Smash &
Grab” event as part of #BlackSolidarityWeek. They opened up about the
assassination of twenty-one-year-old Chicago Black Panther Party Chairman
Fred Hampton Sr. just 18 months after FBI Director Edgar Hoover issued this
directive:\n\n"Prevent the Coalition of militant black nationalist
groups...An effective coalition might be the first step toward a real
“Mau Mau” in America, the beginning of a true black
revolution.”\n\nThis year we’ll learn about the work of the Chicago
Black Panther Party today, from the Panther Cubs program for youth to plans
for a museum documenting the legacy of freedom fighter Chairman Fred
Hampton.\n\nThis event is a fundraiser meant to solicit material support
for the effort to preserve and protect the birthplace of Chairman Fred
Hampton from the Oakland left. Please bring your wallet and help us send
Chairman Fred Hampton Jr. and Mama Akua home to Chicago feeling our love
and support.\n\nTickets are sliding scale from $5-$80, and no one will be
turned away for lack of funds. You will be able to purchase tickets at the
door, but space will be reserved for people who purchase tickets in
advance. Tickets purchased at the door will be $5-$100.\n\nLOCATION AND
ACCESSIBILITY\n\nThe venue is nine blocks away from the 19th St. BART
station and is directly on AC Transit line 33. On-site parking is limited
but is free at the rear of the building.\n\nTRANSLATION AND
CHILDCARE\n\nChildcare and interpretation for Spanish and ASL provided by
reservation. Please RSVP by 2:00 PM on Friday, 2/15 to
me_kan@yahoo.com.\n\nMOBILITY ON SITE\nThe parking lot is slightly sloped
in areas. The venue is accessible for mobility devices from the rear
parking lot via slightly one downward sloping ramp and tan double doors.
The front entrance will also be in use, but has a few steps up. Please
contact us by 2:00 PM on Friday, 2/15 (me_kan@yahoo.com) if would like
assistance navigating either entrance. Floors are linoleum or low-pile
carpet. Reserved seating for people with visual, audio, or mobility
challenges will be available toward the front and rear of the hall. Seating
is in pews arranged on slope downward toward the stage.\n\nBATHROOMS\nThere
are several gender-neutral bathrooms, including one that is ADA compliant.
Gender-binary restrooms are also available. Hand soap is scent free in all
the restrooms. The ADA compliant restroom is also specially cleaned with
scent-free products.\n\nSCENTS\nWhile the venue is not fully scent-free, we
ask guests to please refrain from wearing scented products like lotions,
perfumes, or essential oils so this event is as safe and comfortable as
possible for people who have chemical sensitivities or allergies. Thank
you! Other scents may be present from other church attendees prior to our
event, and possibly from some custodial products.\n\nLIGHTING\nLighting in
the main hall is from compact fluorescent bulbs. Other areas are lit with
standard fluorescent bulbs. The parking area can be darkly lit, so
volunteers will be available to assist people with
 flashlights.\n\nACCESSIBILITY QUESTIONS\nCan be directed to
me_kan@yahoo.com or (510) 768-7554.\n\nTicket details are at the Eventbrite
