 \nAs part of this legislation, the California Public Utilities Commission 
 is tasked with engaging with disability community stakeholders who are 
 impacted by the availability of Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAV’s) 
 via ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft.   \n \nIf you or someone you 
 know is impacted by this legislation, please consider participating in this 
 workshop.\n \nThe workshop will be held:\n             \nDecember 5, 2018, 
 9:30 AM-12:30 PM\nCourtyard Room, California Public Utilities 
 Commission\n505 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94102\n \nContext:\nThe 
 purpose of the workshop will be to initiate discussion of SB 1376’s 
 requirements to “determine community Wheelchair-Accessible Vehicle (WAV) 
 demand and WAV supply and to develop and provide recommendations regarding 
 the establishment of geographic areas, criteria for Access Fund 
 expenditures, and educational outreach objectives for programs for 
 on-demand services and partnerships.”\n \nAt this kick-off workshop, 
 Commission staff requests stakeholder input on how and where to engage 
 stakeholders across four more workshops statewide on the implementation of 
 the Act.  Per the Act, the Commission must work with stakeholders on: 
 vehicle specifications, subsidies for wheelchair pickups, maintenance and 
 fuel costs, designated pickup locations for drivers in locations where 
 door-to-door service is not feasible, standards for trip requests, response 
 times, and rider initiated cancellation, limiting of stranded users, 
 integration of service into city and county transportation plans, or any 
 necessary training or additional incentives for WAV drivers that results in 
 a measurable impact on service availability, efficiency, and efficacy.\n
