DESCRIPTION:Rapid Response Protests Against Today's Anti-Muslim Supreme Court Ruling
\n\nIt’s a dark day in American history. The Supreme Court just allowed
the Muslim ban to continue.\n\nIn a 5-4 ruling, justices sided with this
cornerstone of Trump’s discriminatory immigration policy. The latest
version of the ban limits entry to the United States from citizens of five
Muslim-majority countries in addition to a miniscule number of North
Koreans and Venezuelans.\n\nLet’s be clear: This is a loss. But this
isn’t the end of the fight -- we’re committed to taking down this
discriminatory ban on every front – in Congress, in the courts, and on
the streets.\n\nThat’s why we’re organizing nationwide rapid response
rallies and community forums across the country in the coming days – and
we need as many people as possible to be part of them. \n\nThis isn’t the
first time the Supreme Court got it wrong. In 1944, the Supreme Court ruled
in Korematsu v. United States to allow the government to rip Japanese
Americans out of their homes and imprison them based on false claims of
national security. It’s one of the most shameful chapters of U.S. history
 – and now the Muslim ban decision joins it. History will judge today's
decision harshly.\n\nBut I have hope. It’s ultimately the people of this
country who’ll determine its character and future. In the first 24 hours
of the Muslim ban, two of the defining themes of the Trump presidency
emerged: Trump’s determination to stamp anti-Muslim bigotry into national
policy, and the key role of mass organizing and civil protest in stopping
him.\n\nTogether we can defeat the Muslim Ban – and leave Trump’s
entire racist agenda in the dust. We will continue fighting on every front,
including Trump’s cruel ‘zero tolerance’ policy that’s to blame for
thousands of children being held in detention centers, ripped away from
their parents at the border.\n\nLet’s keep up the fight. The lives of
immigrants, and the fate of our democracy, \ndepends on it.\n\nSee you in
 the streets,\nFaiz Shakir\nACLU\n\nAround the Bay Area:\n\nSAN JOSE:
