DESCRIPTION:The MPC faculty are asking for the community to participate in the March 
 for Teachers on June 11 at the corner of Fremont and Camino el Estero at 6 
 PM. \n\nThe Monterey Peninsula College Teachers' Association (MPCTA) has 
 been working without a contract for 5 years and there has been no new 
 contract language in 10 years, despite increased work expectations. While 
 there has been a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) of 4% in the past decade, 
 but this has not kept up with the >20% inflation in this time period. 
 \n\n75% of the faculty at MPC are adjuncts who do not have job security and 
 do not receive benefits. The adjunct faculty at MPC are near the least 
 compensated for their labor in the state. Adjunct faculty in CA community 
 colleges are not allowed to teach enough to receive benefits including 
 healthcare, sick leave, vacation pay, retirement, etc. 75% of the faculty 
 at MPC do not receive these basic benefits. \n\nThe full time tenured MPC 
 faculty with 20 years of experience are paid the 71st lowest of the the 72 
 community colleges in the state. \n\nPlease join the MPC faculty at the 
 March for Teachers on June 11 at the corner of Fremont and Camino el Estero 
 at 6 PM. They anticipate going to mediation that day to work toward better
