 of the California Poor People’s Campaign and the\nPoor People’s 
 Campaign Bay Area\n\nWhereas, the Alameda Labor Council supports organizing 
 people to advance\nequity;\n\nAnd Whereas, the California Poor People’s 
 Campaign and Poor People’s\nCampaign Bay Area are local affiliates of the 
 Poor People’s Campaign: A\nNational Call for Moral Revival;\n\nAnd 
 Whereas, the demands of the Campaign, including “the right for 
 all\nworkers to form and join unions”, “equal pay for equal work”, 
 and\n“public infrastructure projects”, support the efforts of the 
 Labor\nCouncil;\n\nAnd Whereas, the UFCW, SEIU, AFSCME and United Steel 
 Workers national\nunions have endorsed the Poor People’s Campaign: A 
 National Call for\nMoral Revival, and UFCW has stated “The Poor 
 People’s Campaign believes,\nas our union family does, that our economy 
 can and should work better\nfor everyone…. We’re proud to support The 
 Poor People’s Campaign\nbecause, if successful, it will bring 
 hard-working families more power\nto build better lives;”\n\nAnd Whereas, 
 the Campaign is the renewal of the work undertaken by the\nPoor People’s 
 Campaign in 1968 during which Martin Luther King Jr.\ntraveled to Memphis 
 to support sanitation workers organizing AFSCME\nLocal 1733;\n\nAnd 
 Whereas, the Fundamental Principles of the Poor People’s Campaign,\nwhich 
 have been signed by all organizers, include, “The Campaign and all\nits 
 Participants and Endorsers embrace nonviolence. Violent tactics or\nactions 
 will not be tolerated;”\n\nAnd Whereas, the California Poor People’s 
 Campaign and Poor People’s\nCampaign Bay Area are organizing a series of 
 Nonviolent Moral Fusion\nDirect Actions at the State Capitol each of the 
 six Mondays beginning on\nMay 14;\n\nNow, therefore be it resolved, that 
 the Alameda Labor Council endorses\nthe California Poor People’s Campaign 
 and Poor People’s Campaign Bay\nArea and encourages its affiliates, union 
 members and allies to support\nand participate in actions when requested 
 and the actions align with\nunion values.\n\n\nWeek One: May 14 – Women,
