DESCRIPTION:The Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Center is proud to continue its 2018
Barbara Lee and Elihu Harris Lecture Series on Saturday, March 10th with
distinguished attorney, University Professor of Law, Public Policy and
Women's Studies, Ms. Anita Hill. Ms. Hill chairs the newly formed
Commission on Sexual Harassment and Advancing Equality in the
Workplace.\n\nThe lecture is free and open to the public. RSVP is
encouraged by calling 510.434.3988.\n\nThe youngest of 13 children, Anita
Hill hails from Arkansas family farmers, her great-grandparents and
maternal grandfather, born into slavery. Hill attended Oklahoma State
University, then Yale Law School and is now a University Professor at
Brandeis University and its Heller School for Social Policy and
Management.\n\nMs. Hill is the author of three books, Speaking Truth to
Power, Reimagining Equality: Stories of Gender, Race, and Finding Home and
a legacy tribute on contributions of the Honorable Thurgood Marshall. She
became an attorney-adviser to Clarence Thomas at the U.S. Department of
Education's Office for Civil Rights, then at the U.S. EEOC. Hill later
openly testified to Thomas' workforce sexual harassment history, making her
a national figure for women on matters relating to workforce bias and
fairness.\n\nIn partnership with Peralta Community College District, the
Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Center created The Barbara Lee & Elihu
Harris Lecture Series to promote the vision, leadership, and
accomplishments of Congresswoman Barbara Lee and former California State
Assembly member, Oakland Mayor, and Peralta Community College District
Chancellor Elihu Harris. \n\nThe series offers an ample exchange of ideas
to help inspire and move forward new leadership and servantship. The
series of lectures have featured civil rights leaders who have worked
closely with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, along with others like them who
continue to work tirelessly for social justice.\n\nFREE. Call to RSVP,
