DESCRIPTION:The Black Panther Party galvanized millions of African Americans against
police repression and brutality, upholding the right of armed self-defense.
In response, the government launched a campaign of murder, jailings and
disinformation to destroy the BPP.\n\nHampton was one of the most
charismatic and effective Panther leaders. The film follows the 1969 murder
of 21-year-old Illinois chapter chairperson Fred Hampton by Chicago police
and the subsequent investigation, and includes rare footage of Hampton’s
public speeches and highlights the social programs he led.\n\nJoin the PSL
in watching the film and discussing the revolutionary legacy of the Black
Panther Party. (Film: 1971, 88min.)\n\n$3-10 donation, no one turned away
for lack of funds. \nRefreshments provided. Wheelchair accessible.\n\n
