DESCRIPTION:Please join Lava Mae & Themes+Projects for a conversation about how art
smashes stereotypes. \n\nWe are honored to feature a group of extraordinary
internationally-acclaimed artists, including:\n\n* Writer Daniel Handler
(Lemony Snicket)\n\n* Visual artist Ana Teresa Fernandez\n\n*
Ethnomusicologist Mina Girgis \n\nTheir wide-ranging subjects - the
orphaned Baudelaire twins, the Nile River, and the disappeared in Mexico -
challenge our perceptions, provoke new thinking, and offer a more human
view of circumstances we cannot easily imagine without the intimacy of
art.\n\nThey'll be joined in conversation with community changemakers
Doniece Sandoval, founder/CEO of Lava Mae, and Barbara Goldstein, Board
 Chair/President of ZERO1, a Silicon Valley-based arts, science and
technology network. \n\nWe hope you can join us for an artful +
thought-provoking afternoon, and please feel free to widely invite friends
+ colleagues.\n\nPROGRAM \n\n2pm to 3pm Experience an art installation in
conversation with artists + curators, and enjoy Themes+Projects latest
exhibitions.\n\n3pm to 4pm Join our panel discussion to explore: \n\n* How
important is empathetic storytelling in our incredibly polarized
culture?\n\n* Can art move us towards a shared humanity, despite our
perceived differences?\n\n* Can it substantively shift a community's
perspective of 'the other', beyond the artistic moment?\n\nFree\n
