DESCRIPTION:This fall's Transform festival is one of YBCA's most ambitious dance 
 productions ever. Each fall and spring, we will convene leading 
 contemporary artists for a provocative showcase of dance, music, and 
 theater that can only happen at YBCA. Nine prolific Bay Area dance 
 companies and choreographers respond to the question, "Why citizenship?" 
 \n\nThis program is a double bill featuring Embodiment Project and Jesse 
 Hewit.\n\nEmbodiment Project is a street dance theater company based in San 
 Francisco whose mission is to challenge systemic inequity by exploring 
 issues of trauma, healing, womanist histories, race, and gender role 
 disruption.\n\nJesse Hewit is a performance and dance artist based in San 
 Francisco who creates visual and performative art works as a means to 
 unsettle dominant ideas about power, narrative, safety, and beauty.\n
