DESCRIPTION:Now Is The Time: Healthcare for Everybody(71 min.) 2016\n Directed by Terry
Sterenberg & Laurie Simons \nThis is a documentary film about our current
healthcare system, why it doesn't work, and what you can do about it. The
filmmakers interview doctors and nurses, patients, economists and
politicians to see what they think about our current healthcare system.
You'll see what happens when advocates committed to changing the healthcare
system take action. Big money for insurance companies; fear of government
taking over the nation's healthcare system; but there's something more,
like a fog that keeps people from moving forward together. This film
intends to remove that fog, and will leave viewers examining what it means
to be American and what it takes to step into action. \n\nThis documentary
film is a follow-up to the filmmakers first film, The Healthcare Movie
(2011).\n\nThe United States is the most backward country in the
industrialized world with the highest infant mortality and lowest life
expectancy, and a declining life expectancy for the workingclass, the 80%
of us who sell our labor for less than $80,000 a year because we do not
have socialized medicine. Germany has had socialized medicine since 1883,
when the German workingclass also won old age pensions and unemployment
insurance. The latter 2 were won in the US in 1935, along with the right
to organize labor unions (Wagner Act) as a direct result of the 1934
general strikes in San Francisco, Minneapolis and Toledo, See

\n\nThe countries that now have socialized medicine are: All of Europe,
Israel, Cuba, Canada, Venezuela, Chile, China, Japan, Taiwan, North Korea,
South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.\n\nNot only will socialized
medicine save lives, it will be a tremendous boost to the economy, which is
now at a standstill, effectively declining, since healthcare employs
millions of people, and all can be organized into labor unions.\n\nWe
expect to see SB562, California's Healthcare for All Act, on the November
2018 ballot, if it does not pass the supermajority Democratic Legislature,
both houses, and is not signed by the Democratic governor in time. The 2
parties that support socialized medicine, also known as single payer or
Medicare for All, are Peace & Freedom Party and the Green Party. It is now
134 years since German workers won socialized medicine. Now is the time to
get off the dime!\n\n A Q&A and panel discussion follows the screening.
Speakers include Jeff Gee, MD, from Physicians for a National Health
Program (PNHP), Barb Ryan, RN, from California Nurses Association and a
representative from the Healthy California Act (SB 562). \n For
