DESCRIPTION:Honorable Liberian Senator Jonathan Lambert Kaipay, Grand Bassa County will
join our conversation at the 2017 Downtown Stockton Juneteenth Business
Luncheon.\n\nThe City of Stockton is named after the Commodore Robert Field
Stockton, Military Governor of California, who had a long distinguished
maritime connection with Africa while helping to establish the Republic of
Liberia. \n\nIn 1821, then-27-year-old Captain Robert Field Stockton
commanded the USS Alligator and helped negotiate and finance the return of
hundreds of freed enslaved Africans along the coast of present-day Liberia
through the creation of the American Colonization Society. In 1847, Liberia
declared independence from the American Colonization Society at the
Liberian Constitutional Convention on July 16, 1847. \n\nCommodore Robert
Field Stockton served as Military Governor of California, 1846-1847, and
died during the US Civil War at the dawn of the end of chattel slavery
throughout America, the reason we celebrate and mark the milestone of
Juneteenth. \n\nToday, the Republic of Liberia is a forward looking
leader throughout West Africa. Liberian President H.E. Ellen Johnson
Sirleaf, also serves as the Chairperson of the Authority of Heads of States
and Government of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is
made up of fifteen member countries that are located in the Western African
region.\n\nWe are excited to hear new opportunities for expanded California
~ Pan African Trade and Commerce from Honorable Senator Jonathan Lambert
Kaipay, Grand Bassa County, as we build toward our 7th Pan African Trade
and Investment Conference, September 17-19, 2017 in partnership with the
Africa US Chamber of Commerce and Industry.\n\nHonorable Senator Kaipay was
born and raised in the Port City of Buchannan and earned his Bachelors of
Business Administration in Accounting from the United Methodist University.
Mr. Jonathan L. Kaipay is married to Mrs. Frances Goffa Kaipay and the
Union is blessed with six children. \n\nSenator Kaipay is a seasoned
professional in his area including professional development certificates
from institutions in Europe and Africa with a certificate in Project and
Financial Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public
Administration.\n\nGrounded in faithful service, he rose through the ranks
of the United Methodist Church from a humble Research Officer at the
Connectional Ministries to a full time Director of the Department of
Community Services with three active programs under his watch.\n\nIn this
position, Mr. Kaipay has been highly instrumental in a growing
transformation of Liberia. The outcome of the selfless sacrifices and hard
work of Mr. Kaipay and his team to date has impacted a quarter of more than
a million persons around the country and the number is still
growing.\n\nHon. Senator Kaipay remains a light for the Bassa people
breaking grounds in areas of service committed to meeting the needs of his
people and has embarked on several projects aimed at helping his people to
get out of poverty. We look forward to expanding the conversation.\n\nJoin
