DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in learning more about the university's plans for the
future of the campus?\n\nDo you value UCSC's residential college system,
its identity and legacy?\n\nCome to this event!\n\nNew Directions in the
Future of UC Santa Cruz\n12 noon to 2 pm \nSaturday, April 29\nCowell
Conference Room 132\n\nHow do we interpret a proposed addition of 2,500
on-campus beds unaffiliated with the colleges, and on a site including the
Porter Meadow, Porter "Squiggle" and trailer park areas?\n\nWhat does
giving control of the housing to a private developer mean for the long-term
interests of the university, campus and students?\n\nHow will UCSC
reconcile rising enrollment with the campus' history?\n\nPlease join a
timely conversation. This will be a friendly and informative discussion, a
chance to enjoy your lunch with fellow alumni, make some new friends, and
learn more about the future of the campus and school we know and love.
You're welcome and encouraged to bring your lunch, which could be picked up
or purchased by the quarry plaza.\n\nThe event is being organized by
Matthew Waxman, who is a 2006 Porter College graduate, a member of the UCSC
Alumni Council, and was a student representative to the 2005-2020 Long
 Range Development Plan Committee.\n\n\n--\n\nUCSC Beyond
