DESCRIPTION:April 20-26, 12pm-10pm\n\nThe 2017 San Francisco Green Film Festival
includes 70 films from around the globe, with over 90 visiting filmmakers
and guest speakers covering environmental topics surrounding clean energy,
green chemistry, food, housing, trash, water, and art in the
environment.\n\nFrom the Amazon to Standing Rock, from the streets of SF to
the fields of Ethiopia, see new stories from around the world at Green Film
Fest 2017. All week you will have a chance to meet filmmakers & expert
guests at our fest for acclaimed environmental films.\n\nThe Festival will
open on Thursday, April 20 with Evolution of Organic from acclaimed Bay
Area filmmaker Mark Kitchell and will usher in a week of special events,
discussion panels, workshops, and educational programs. It started with a
motley crew of back-to-the-landers rejecting industrial farming. It went on
to spawn a renewed connection with our food and land. The film presents a
celebration of Californian organic farming told by the people that started
it all thru to a new generation who continue to reinvent the food
system.\n\n Closing Night April 26 is the SF Premiere of 12 Pianos: Half
Moon Bay, California. Mauro ffortissimo, an artist and musician, drags an
old grand piano onto the bluffs near his home by the sea. He plays it every
evening at sunset for the migrating whales passing just offshore. Soon
after, his installations of twelve pianos take over the San Mateo Coast, as
world-class musicians, enthusiasts, and novices alike come to play in the
exquisite natural surroundings. Finally, with pianos on the streets of San
Francisco, the city's rebellious artist's soul stirs once again. Filmmaker
Dean Mermell captures the incredible sights and sounds of this unusual
passion project, in a film that asks: As the world rushes headlong into an
unknown future, what good things from the past are worth saving?\n\n$15
each film ticket, $225 festival pass.\n
