DESCRIPTION:Sierra Club members (and the interested public) are invited to a Sierra 
 Club San Francisco Chapter candidates' forum on Sunday, November 27 at 1268 
 Valencia (public space at Arizmendi Bakery) 2-3:30 pm.\n\nThis forum is 
 being hosted by The Commons SF, an organization committed to raising 
 awareness about the role land values play in private decision-making and 
 the formulation of public policy. The rural and wilderness environment is 
 certainly effected by urban policy. The Commons SF seeks to 1) identify 
 land-use special interests that bend public policy, and 2) present economic 
 and social ideas regarding land which illuminate more just public 
 policy.\n\nAs in last year's SF Sierra Club election, so this year an 
 insurgent slate of candidates are challenging the slower housing growth 
 policy of the Sierra Club. The Commons SF wishes to "stiff-arm" all these 
 candidates' assumptions about land values. Neither the Sierra Club-selected 
 candidates nor the YIMBY/BARF group candidates acknowledge that land values 
 are a function of society's presence. Neither slate treats land/nature as 
 an economic commonwealth, with the result that both slates propose 
 responses to the social justice/real estate/sprawl matrix that ignore the 
 deep ecology principle that the privatization of land's economic value 
 injuriously distorts housing supply, wages, and the practical commitment to 
 other species' habitat. \n\nIn the era of Trump it is fair to label 
 privatizing land values as Trumpism. Can any of the candidates distance 
 themselves from Trumpism? Come listen, question, and reflect.\n
