DESCRIPTION:Suds, Snacks, and Socialism at the Starry Plough\n3101 Shattuck Avenue at
Prince Street\n2 blocks from Ashby BART in Berkeley\n\nThe Peace and
Freedom Party presents\nLies, Bribes, and Elections\nKarl Marx grasped the
essence of capitalist democracy splendidly when he said that the oppressed
are allowed once every few years to decide which representatives of the
ruling class shall represent and repress them, but even Marx would be
shocked by our 2016 Elections. We are inviting speakers to address selected
aspects of electoral politics in America: Karen Bernal, former chair of the
Progressive Caucus of the California Democratic Party and co-chair of the
California Sanders delegation at the DNC; Brenda Zeman, who teaches
anthropology at the University of Saskatchewan, will discuss the recent
federal election in Canada, what was promised, what has happened; Dave
Kadlecek, of the Peace and Freedom Party, current chair of the Santa Clara
County Citizens' Advisory Commission on Elections: and Cat Woods, of the
Peace and Freedom Party, will focus on possible solutions (copies of our
Peace and Freedom Party Platform will be available at the forum).\n\nSat,
 Nov 5, 2016 • 2:00 PM-4:30 PM\nAt the Starry Plough Pub, 3101 Shattuck
Ave, at Prince St in Berkeley\n\nFREE! Please buy food & drink at the
Pub. All ages welcome! FREE!\n\nThis is part of our on-going
Socialist Forum Series on the first Saturday of every month. Doors open at
2 pm and the program will start promptly at 2:30 pm. The forum will end by
4:30 pm, but folks can stay and talk as long as you like. \n\nFor
information, contact Gene Ruyle: 510-332-3865, cuyleruyle@mac.com\n\nThe
Peace and Freedom Party, born from the civil rights and anti-war movements
of the 1960s, is committed to socialism, democracy, ecology, feminism,
