DESCRIPTION:Sunday Morning at the Marxist Library \n\nThe History of Socialism in
 America: \nfrom Robert Owen’s utopian experiment in 1825 \nto Bernie’s
political revolution of 2016. \nPART TWO: SINCE 1917\nAs a democratic
socialist, Bernie Sanders began a political revolution to transform a
political system run by the billionaire class into one that represents
working and middle class Americans and creates more opportunity for
everyone. This workshop will take a closer look at Bernie’s socialism by
placing it within the global context of two centuries of working class
struggle against capitalist rule. This will allow a better understanding of
how Bernie has adapted socialism to the United States in the Twenty First
Century and how to improve our struggles for a better world for all
humanity. Now that Bernie is no longer a candidate, it’s up to us to
continue the struggle. \nGene Ruyle, Emeritus Professor of Anthropology at
Cal State Long Beach, is author of “Rethinking Marxist Anthropology,”
and other essays. He is active with the Oscar Grant Committee, Veterans for
Peace, and the Peace and Freedom Party. \n\nSun, Oct 9, 2016 - 10:30am to
12:30pm \nNiebyl-Proctor Marxist Library \n6501 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland
(just North of Alcatraz Ave.) \n\nSeating is limited, so plan to come
early. We start promptly. \nFREE - but hat will be passed for donations to
NPML \n\nAbout Sunday Morning at the Marxist Library \nA weekly discussion
series inspired by our respect for the work of Karl Marx and our belief
that his work will remain as important for the class struggles of the
