DESCRIPTION:We are expanding our Food Not Bombs co-lab to encompass standing in
solidarity with Standing Rock! We hope you will join us!\n\nKeith, the FNB
founder, wrote:\n\n"MNI WICONI WATER IS LIFE \nSolidarity with Sacred Stone
Camp’s effort to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline and the call for Obama
to free Native American political prisoner Leonard Peltier:\n\nSunday,
 September 25, 2016\n3:00 - 6:00 PM\nDowntown Post Office Santa Cruz\nFront
and Water Streets\nSanta Cruz, California\n\nCeremony with Bobby Castillo
of the Apache/Xicano Nations and former International Spokesperson for the
Leonard Peltier Defense Committee, Food Not Bombs will share free vegan
meals, Livity Rising Mobile Clinic will also provide free holistic healing,
and traditional mbira music of Zimbabwe by Tom Melkonian and Melissa Cara
Rigoli.\n\nThe Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) is owned by Energy Transfer
Partners of Houston, Texas. The DAPL, also known as the Bakken Pipeline, is
proposed to transport 450,000 barrels of crude oil per day (which is
fracked and highly volatile) from the Bakken fields of North Dakota to
Patoka, Illinois. Dakota Access has failed to consult with tribes and
conduct a full Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Construction has
already damage burial grounds and could poison the sacred Missouri River
and aquifer. \n\nFederal government reports show that there have been more
than 8,700 significant incidents with U.S. pipelines involving death,
injury, and economic and environmental damage since 1986—more than 300
per year.\n\nLeonard Peltier was targeted and unjustly convicted in 1977
for his work defending Indian land in South Dakota from the ravages of the
fossil industry. He is part of the same struggle to defend the sacred
Dakotas taking place today at Standing Rock. \n\nWE WILL NOT ALLOW THIS
PIPELINE TO CROSS OUR LAND, WATER, AND SACRED SITES. \n\nLearn more about
DAPL and current needs of the camp by visiting sacredstonecamp.org"\n
