DESCRIPTION:Stanford Repertory Theater (SRT) presents its 18th annual summer festival,
Theater Takes a Stand, celebrating the American labor movement. The
festival features productions of Naomi Wallace’s Slaughter City and
Clifford Odets’ Waiting for Lefty, a free film series, and a community
symposium.\n\nClifford Odets’ Waiting for Lefty remains the great
American play about the struggle for workers’ rights. Directed by SRT
veteran Marty Pistone, Waiting for Lefty tells the inspiring tale of the
fight for collective bargaining. With union busting the global norm,
Odets’ masterpiece has much to tell us, all the more so in this election
 year.\n\nWaiting for Lefty plays August 11 – 21, 2016, Thursday-Saturday,
8 pm; Saturday and Sunday matinees, 2 pm.\nBoth plays are presented at the
Nitery Theater, Old Union (Lasuen Mall, opposite the Stanford bookstore).
Tickets $25 / $15 (students & seniors). For information and tickets, visit
our website stanfordreptheater.com or telephone 650-725-5838 and leave a
 message.\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2016/06/20/18787803.php
