 Theater Takes a Stand, celebrating the American labor movement. The
 festival features productions of Naomi Wallace’s Slaughter City and
 Clifford Odets’ Waiting for Lefty, a free film series, and a community
 symposium.\n\nDirected by Alex Johnson, Wallace’s Slaughter City tells a
 spiky, humorous, and ultimately riveting story of a US meatpacking plant.
 With songs, movement, and ensemble creativity, Slaughter City unleashes
 theatrical magic and meaning. A West Coast premiere, SRT’s Slaughter City
 features Leontyne Mbele, Nora Tjossem, Fiona Maguire, Louis McWilliams,
 Thomas Freeland, Dorian Lockett, and Austin Caldwell.\n\nSlaughter City
 plays July 21 – August 7, 2016, Thursday-Saturday, 8 pm, Sunday, 2 pm.
 Waiting for Lefty plays August 11 – 21, 2016, Thursday-Saturday, 8 pm;
 Saturday and Sunday matinees, 2 pm.\n\nBoth plays are presented at the
 Nitery Theater, Old Union (Lasuen Mall, opposite the Stanford bookstore).
