 \n\n\nThe Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC) and Art Forces invite 
 you to join us on May 15th to remember Al Nabka, the Black Panthers, and 
 Indigenous Resistance. This will be a family friendly event with a 
 community mural painting, cultural performances, roundtable discussion and 
 exhibit.\n\n"George Jackson in the Sun of Palestine” is a traveling 
 multimedia exhibition that expresses the depth of solidarity and closeness 
 between the struggles against colonization in Palestine and around the 
 world. The impetus and title for the exhibit stem from the inspiration 
 Black Panther George Jackson received from Palestinian poet Samih 
 al-Qasim’s poem “Enemy of the Sun.” After Jackson was assassinated in 
 1971 a handwritten copy of this poem was found in his prison cell. The 
 Black Panther Party shared the classical Palestinian poem in the party’s 
 newspaper, under the assumption it was written by Jackson himself.\n\nMay

 blessing at the Oakland Palestine Solidarity Mural with traditional Te'o 
 Kalli Mejica Dancers (mural is located directly across the street from 
 Uptown Body & Fender)\n\nOPENING PERFORMERS:\nYoung Gifted and Black\nSilk 
 Road Dabke Troupe\nAl Juthoor\n\nSPEAKERS and DIALOGUE with:\nDr. Rabab 
 Abdulhadi, AMED at SFSU\nGreg Thomas, Black Studies at Tufts 
 University\nEmory Douglas, Black Panther Party\nMaytha Alhassen, Journalist 
 and PhD Candidate at USC\nTony Gonzales, AIM West\nVan Dell, 
 Qilombo\n\n\nThe Oakland exhibit at Uptown Body & Fender is proud to be the 
 second stop for the "George Jackson in the Sun of Palestine" traveling 
 exhibition, and will run through the end of May featuring artists Leonard 
 Peltier, Pedro Alcantara-Herran (Colombia), Jonelle Davies (Miami, 
 Florida), Emory Douglas (African-America & the Black Panthers), Antonio 
 Frasconi (Uruguay), the Inkworks Cooperative (Berkeley, California), Ivan 
 Lopez (San Francisco & Colombia), Malaquias Montoya (Mexico & 
 Mexican-America), Rafael Morante (Cuba & OSPAAAL), Hunger Strikers of the 
 California Prison Movement, Priya Handa, Sharif Zarkout and Nidal 
 El-Khairy. The exhibit also includes political posters from the Abu Jihad 
 Museum for Prisoner Movement in Palestine, and photographs of the American 
 Indian Movement (AIM) and Palestinian resistance.\n\n\n
