DESCRIPTION:This program has been a year in planning, and NMW's impresario Phil
Collins’ vision for this project is to emphasize the strong commonality
that music has among different Middle Eastern, as well as Western cultures.
Music has thrived in the human civilization as a unifier; an unspoken
dialect that crosses cultural divides and surrenders hearts.\n\nIt is a
peace-inspired concert that involves subjects of a broader, and more
public-oriented nature, than what contemporary chamber music concerts
usually feature.\nNew Music Works Presents "Major Keys of Asia Minor" on
Saturday April 16th at 8PM, at the UCSC Music Center Recital Hall.\n\nTwo
FREE community lecture/performances by Guest Artists Eitan Steinberg and
Etty BenZaken offered Friday, April 15th, 8PM at Temple Beth El and again
April 16, at 7PM, just before the concert.\n\nAmazing and beautiful new
vocal works and chamber music by six Middle Eastern composers of Christian,
Jewish and Islamic heritages will be performed by nMw Ensemble and
outstanding guest artists, pianist Kate Campbell, The Ariose Singers. And
renowned Israeli vocalist, Etty BenZaken, who will perform Assembly of the
Souls, a peace-inspired song cycle set to Arabic and Hebraic sacred texts,
composed by visiting Israeli composer, Eitan Steinberg.\n\nCo-Sponsored by
the TENT OF ABRAHAM, an interfaith
 consortium.\n\nwww.newmusicworks.org/concert-iii-major-keys-of-asia-minor/\n
