DESCRIPTION:For our March event, Peace Action of San Mateo County will return to Oliver
Stone's "Untold History of the United States" in a showing of one of the
prologue segments Stone produced following the original 10 episodes
originally on the Showtime network.\n\nThe "B" supplemental chapter just
might foretell the future. It covers the period from 1918 to the WWII
period, when there was a real debate in our country between the populist,
left, right and even fascist movements both worldwide and at home. The
immigration issues, with screaming about "dangerous" eastern and southern
Europeans, should raise some eyebrows. The flaunting of social conventions
of the times also mirror our nation today to a remarkable degree. Social
questioning from the sexual awakening to prohibition also have much in
common with the drug, incarceration and anti-abortion movements we see
today. \n\nWith such striking parallels, the question looms: are we doomed
to repeat those times? Stop by the Unitarian Universalists of San Mateo on
Monday, March 28 (the day after Easter) to check out this unique
production, and see what your fellow progressives think. A discussion will
follow the screening. \n\nThe address is 300 E. Santa Inez Avenue in San
Mateo, at our usual time of 7 PM. Admission is free, contributions are
welcome, and snacks and beverages will be available. The UUSM is wheelchair
accessible. \n\nWe hope to see you there!\n\nFree, contributions
 accepted.\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2016/03/18/18784202.php
