DESCRIPTION:The day after the Sandy Hook tragedy, mom-of-five Shannon Watts started a
Facebook page which became Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a
grassroots movement with a chapter in every state and more than three
million supporters. \n\nSince their founding, Moms have taken the fight for
new and stronger gun laws to the states, passing background check laws in
six states and battling back dangerous gun bills that undermine public
safety. They have persuaded corporations like Starbucks, Target and
Chipotle to adopt gun-sense policies that put the safety of their employees
and customers first. And Moms are gearing up to build on these victories by
making gun violence prevention a political priority in the upcoming
elections.\n\nCalifornia has some of the strongest gun violence prevention
legislation in the country and leads the nation in progressive
implementation of gun safety measures. But when it comes to gun safety, our
nation is only as strong as the state with the weakest gun laws. Join
Shannon and moderator Sara Smirin, Moms volunteer leader and OFJCC Board
Member, to learn more about the movement and why it's important to get
involved in 2016. \n\nShannon Watts is a stay-at-home mom and former
communications executive. She founded Moms Demand Action with the message
that all Americans can and should do more to reduce gun violence. The
online conversation turned into a grassroots movement of American mothers
fighting for public safety measures that respect the Second Amendment and
protect people from gun violence. Moms Demand Action has established a
chapter in every state of the country and is part of Everytown for Gun
Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country,
with more than three million supporters.\n\n$15 General | $12 Members and
 J-Pass Holders.\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2016/03/14/18784048.php
