DESCRIPTION:The Salinas Assembly Center was one of fifteen temporary detention centers 
 (euphemistically called "assembly centers") administered by the Wartime 
 Civil Control Administration. Most Japanese Americans forcibly removed from

 summer of 1942 while the more permanent concentration camps were being
