DESCRIPTION:Join the La Peña community for an interactive discussion about migration,
borders, and resistance, both at the border and in the Bay Area\nWe will
hear from No More Deaths/No Más Muertes, an organization based in Southern
Arizona. NMD works to end death and suffering in the borderlands through
direct aid, border-patrol abuse exposure and awareness campaigns. We will
screen clips from UNDIVIDED, a short film by Sophie Cooper in collaboration
with Center for New Community. The film explores how immigration policies
affect communities, how Black and Brown struggles overlap and how people
are building alternative support networks as a form of resistance. During
the discussion, we want to hear from you. How does the current immigration
crisis affect the Bay Area? How can we collectively fight against the
border and policies especially in the face of the newest wave of
anti-immigrant sentiment?\n\nWe will feature Bay Area artists, including
Malditoria. All proceeds go to No More Deaths/No Más Muertes. Please
consider supporting with a donation, or by buying a poster, sticker, or
t-shirt!\n\n$7 suggested donation - Pre-Sale tickets available here!
