DESCRIPTION:If you know someone who cares about the politics and health of society and
you want to start deliciously provocative conversations with them, or
rankle their assumptions, or disturb their equanimity . . . or even if you
just want to get rid of them, come on this walking tour about San Francisco
(and everywhere else's) real estate and the social philosophy of Henry
George. It's guaranteed to do the trick!\n\nGuaranteed? I'll give you $20
if it doesn't satisfy one of the four objectives above the very first time
you use the content of this walk with your friend, family member, or
otherwise disposed discussant.\n\nUnlike most other products, services, or
group therapies (such as est or whoozeamacallit's Three Pillars of Personal
Economic Transformation), you don't even have to come on the walk to "get
it." You may be assured, however, that by coming on this walk you'll get
the full up, humorous, aerobic version.\n\nHenry George, for all his
faults, had the following to say-- which is demonstrated to have endlessly
annoyed Republicans, Democrats, liberals, conservatives, socialists,
communists, libertarians, Ayn Rand devotees, and Lyndon LaRouche
goo-gooites-- The annual rent of nature belongs to society as public
revenue, while the value of stuff made by people belongs to those who, with
or without culture's contribution to the deed, actually deliver the good or
service to you.\n\nSimply read that last long sentence to a pinko or a Tea
Party folk and you'll get a rise! Both will sooner engage in united
umbrage at your remark than concur that the market value of nature belongs
to society!\n\nYou must be willing to defend this assertion (even if you
are mendacious and don't believe it) in order to endlessly annoy others,
but it works just the same.\n\nOn the walk you'll see real life
applications of the assertion, you'll hear a practiced advocate shake down
some of the attendees, and you'll see how it's possible to live a stable,
happy life while endlessly annoying others. \n\nThere is a caveat: those
who don't think much about society and social systems are indifferent to
the assertion; it only works with people who give a rat's arse about how
things are. No other promises are implied or guaranteed.\n
