DESCRIPTION:We Stand With Our Immigrant Brothers and Sisters\n\nThe death of young
Kathryn Steinle at the S.F. Embarcadero was tragic, and a great loss to her
family and friends. But her death has been opportunistically seized upon
by some very ugly political forces to whip up racist, white supremacist
hatred and fear – against immigrants.\n\nPresidential candidate Donald
Trump (a fascist, who, in the 80’s, led the outcry for the immediate
execution of 5 innocent Black youth - jailed unjustly for years in the
Central Park Jogger case in NYC) is now whipping up this lynch mob
hysteria. Trump is joined by Diane Feinstein, Hillary Clinton, and others
in the political “Shark Tank”, circling, eager to rip into the broader
immigrant population.\n\nThey are doing this to target not only immigrants,
but good people in San Francisco (and other cities) that have passed
Sanctuary laws that treat immigrants with some measure of
humanity!\n\nWhile these politicians howl with feigned outrage against this
tragic killing, WE MUST ASK, where was their outrage around the thousands
of Black and Brown people killed by police, the hundreds of immigrants who
die yearly crossing the border or the more than a million of OUR immigrant
brothers, sisters deported, with many families torn apart these past seven
years?\n\nDylan Roof, the young man who murdered nine people in the Mother
Emanuel church in Charleston was an open, avowed white supremacist. But the
hatred in his heart for Black people was planted there by this system. Now
the same system, and the same politicians who cried crocodile tears over
Charleston, are leading an attack on another group of non-white people.
\n\nOver the past year we’ve seen, and been part of, a beautiful
outpouring of resistance to one horrific expression of this system – the
murder by police of Black and brown people. Now we need to rise up in
struggle to stand with our immigrant Sisters and Brothers against the
system that is looking for ways to divide us and reinforce their rule over
us.\n\nWhile the system demonizes immigrants, we embrace them as brothers
and sisters.\nWhile they want us to be quiet and complacent we need to step
up our movement!\n\nThe Stop Mass Incarceration Network has put out a call
initiated by Carl Dix and Cornel West for a RISE UP OCTOBER, a massive
mobilization of protest in New York, October 24, to stop the spearpoint of
a whole matrix of oppression – the targeting, murdering and
criminalization of Black and Latino brothers and sisters. \n\nTo quote from
the Call for October 24: \n “This demonstration will be
resistance-based, uncompromising in spirit and at the same time,
pluralistic and diverse, involving hundreds of thousands of people,
reaching into every corner of this society and powerfully impacting the
whole world. History has shown that no significant change has been won
without mass determined resistance.” \n\nJoin us, and tens of thousands
of others, in the streets of New York City, October 24th\n\n
