DESCRIPTION:Come see The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the
Pentagon Papers (2009, 92 min.) on Saturday, 6/13/15 at 8:00.\n\n"The Most
Dangerous Man in America" is the story of what happens when a\nformer
Pentagon insider, armed only with his conscience, steadfast\ndetermination,
and a file cabinet full of classified documents, decides\nto challenge an
"Imperial" Presidency-answerable to neither Congress,\nthe press, nor the
people-in order to help end the Vietnam War. In 1971,\nDaniel Ellsberg
shook America to its foundations when he smuggled a\ntop-secret Pentagon
study to the New York Times that showed how five\nPresidents consistently
lied to the American people about the Vietnam\nWar that was killing
millions and tearing America apart. President\nNixon's National Security
Advisor Henry Kissinger called Ellsberg "the\nmost dangerous man in
America," who "had to be stopped at all costs."\nBut Ellsberg wasn't
stopped. Facing 115 years in prison on espionage and\nconspiracy charges,
he fought back. Ensuing events surrounding the\nso-called Pentagon Papers
led directly to Watergate and the downfall of\nPresident Nixon, and
hastened the end of the Vietnam War. Ellsberg's\nrelentless telling of
truth to power, which exposed the secret deeds of\nan "Imperial
Presidency," inspired Americans of all walks of life to\nforever question
the previously-unchallenged pronouncements of its\nleaders. "The Most
Dangerous Man in America" tells the inside story, for\nthe first time on
film, of this pivotal event that changed history and\ntransformed our
nation's political discourse. It is told largely by the\nplayers of that
dramatic episode-Ellsberg, his colleagues, family and\ncritics; Pentagon
Papers authors and government officials; Vietnam\nveterans and anti-war
activists; Watergate principals, attorneys and the\njournalists who both
covered the story and were an integral part of it;\nand finally-through
White House audiotapes-President Nixon and his inner\ncircle of
advisers.\n\nThis will be shown at the Quaker Meetinghouse, 225 Rooney
Street, Santa\nCruz. Admission cost is free, with donations accepted to
help cover rent\nand other costs.\n\nYou can help publicize by posting this
 flyer:\n\nhttp://members.cruzio.com/~lupa/free.video.most.dangerous.man.pdf\n\nThis
may be followed by optional discussions about the issues raised\nin the
 video.\n https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2015/06/08/18773289.php
