New Business:\n H. Recommendation that the PRAC establish and adopt a task
force of City officials from Parks & Rec, Oakland Public Works, OPD, park
patrons, Oakland residents and PRAC members for the purpose of creating a
policy regarding grilling in Oakland City parks with the initial priority
being Lakeside Park.\n In response to recent growing concerns about
Oakland parks visitors setting up large unpermitted gatherings for grilling
activities a task force of 14 community "thought partners" representing the
Lakeshore Business Improvement District, Lake Merritt Business Association,
Eastlake Music Festival, OPD's Neighborhood Services Division, the vice
chair of San Antonio NCPC, OPR Central Reservations, as well as several
District 2 residents, a local artist, a resident of the Lake Merritt area,
3 PRAC commissioners, and OPR director Audree V. Jones-Taylor was convened.
Scroll down for the previous mtg's minutes and reference to a previous

New Business:\n F. Recommendation: Staff recommends that the PRAC
establish a task force which includes City officials from Oakland Parks &
Rec, Oakland Public Works, OPD, park patrons, Oakland residents and PRAC
members for the purpose of creating a policy regarding grilling in Oakland
City parks, iwth the priority being Lakeside Park.\n As we prepare for
another exciting spring and summer it is critical that Oakland Parks and
Recreation and city officials are prepared to meet the challenges of heavy
use and grilling at city parks.\n\nScroll down to page 80 (of 84) to view
Report 8F.\n\n\nMake sure you have your voice heard. Apparently they have
already set up the task force. Concerned citizens were expecting a notice
about expressing interest. They have probably packed the task force with
those whose opinions already parallel those of the local business groups
and the Parks & Rec.\n\nIn general, the City is against allowing the
residents to gather and create community. That is what all of these
Specific Area Plans are intended to cement. The idea is to create dense
blocks of modern tenements without any means of getting out and
experiencing nature. One is supposed to watch a screen within one's
apartment cell and then either leave to go to the place where one exchanges
labor & time for wages or goes to spend some pretty green on goods or
services. If you don't have the green? Then you shouldn't be here.
 You'll get the bum's rush.\n
