 95203\n\nJoin us to tour the proposed area toward establishing a National 
 Historic Park within the Historic Stockton Waterfront District \n\nThe City 
 of Stockton is named after Commodore Robert Field Stockton, first  Military 
 Governor for Alta California, his grandfather, John Stockton, donated land 
 to create Princton University, New Jersey, his father Richard Stockton was 
 one of 56 to sign the  United States Declaration of Independence. \n\nIn 
 1846, the Historic Stockton Waterfront District began as an amazing 
 regional transportation hub.  During the California Gold Rush, the City of 
 Stockton was formally established, July 9, 1850. \n\nToday, the renaissance 
 of the heart of the California Central Valley looks to our preserve our 
 golden historical legacy. \nThe signifigant contributions by Stockton 
 residents of African ancestry (1840-1875) helped to postively impacted the 
 region, state, nation and the world.  \n\nRev. Jeremiah King and Rev. 
 Jeremiah Burke Sanderson helped  create a strong and  fertile community, in 
 partnership Capt. Charles Weber.  \n\nMany diverse members of the City of 
 Stockton pioneer families lived together in the Stockton Waterfront 
 District.\n\nThe City of Stockton is named after Commodore Robert Field

 Richard Stockton was an original signer to the United States Declaration of 
 Independence. \n\nNationwide, bits and pieces of an amazing mosaic tapestry 
 are  being woven towards the compiling the essential elements that 
 quantify, with primary source documents, the salient contributions 
 featuring people of African ancestry in the Historic Stockton Waterfront 
 District . \n\nOur story, part of a profound and exceptional Underground 
 Railroad tradition, is part of early residents of the City of Stockton who 
 impacted the entire United States of America. \n\nOur Sesquicentennial 
 Black Heritage Tour will bring global cultural toursm and national 
 preservation experts to the heart of the California Central Valley, come 
 and join our unique celebration of freedom.\n\n
